Great news. The estate of singer Joe Cocker has entered into an agreement with Irving Azoff's Iconic Artists Group. According to a media statement, the deal will see Iconic “acquire, develop and expand Cocker's rich musical legacy to new generations”.Jun 27, 2023
This is such great news. Joe never got to be honored in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which he so deserves. Billy Joel attempted to have this happen before Joe died, but for reasons we are not sure it never happened.
I heard from members of Iconic Artist Group’s team that they are working with Vic Cocker, Joe’s brother, and Pam Cocker, his widow. They opened a storage unit in Denver and found photos of mine of Joe. I’m working with them to create new merch. For me, this means maybe I can have a hand at suggesting environmentally sound T-shirts that are printed, not plastic images ironed on! Maybe even ones that women might want to wear — like three quarter length, boat neck shirts on soft cotton fabric that last through washings!
But, more importantly, they will keep Joe’s legacy, his music, his spirit, his genius alive. Makes me so happy — he deserves it.
Joe was one of the kindest humans. He wrangled his demons and lived well into relatively old age, growing tomatoes and playing snooker when he was home. Those of us who were on the JCMD&E tour loved him and still do.
Thank you to Iconic Artist Group.
And by the way, I still have a few cases left of Tribute: Cocker Power books and a large photo to include of Joe and Leon inside it - so please pass this on to anyone who loves not only documentary music photography but great tales from many who loved and or worked with Joe — from Derek Trucks to Jim Keltner to Leon Russell to Claudia Lennear to Rita Coolidge to Pamela Polland.
This is so wonderful Linda ~ Just a awesome opportunity for you and for them🌹🌅❣️
